BOOK REVIEW

Title- Galahad at Blandings,  Author- P.G.Wodehouse

It seems to me that the theme of all Wodehouse books are more or less the same, there is always trouble between a young couples who are otherwise in love and there is a mastermind around, an epic character, to help them realize this. But the situations vary in, but one thing, they are all ridiculously hilarious. There’s always someone around who unknowingly mucks things up and the characters never learn to tread carefully. Another standard character is the prim and proper aunt. She may be anyone’s aunt. But God help you if you cross her. This prim and proper aunt always has a male relative she would much rather throw into an asylum than admit a relation to. The outrageous behaviour and outlandish ways of this relative, be it a nephew or a brother, tries her greatly.

Galahad at Blandings is no different but it doesn’t make me love it any less. Even though its basic plot is so similar to the previous Wodehouse books I have read, the unbelievably absurd circumstances the long suffering character get caught in are side splitting. Their progress however, will keep you at the edge of your seat, making you wonder what disaster will befall them now as a smooth flow of operations in out of the question, what really makes the read truly worthwhile and fulfilling is the richness of the language and vocabulary.

Title- Wuthering Heights

Author- Emily Brontë

I feel good after reading this book. It’s as good as the movie; I’m talking about the one with Ralph Fiennes and Juliet Binoche. Anyway, now I know why I dislike Jane Austin’s novels.  Wuthering Height offers a more interesting theme, it does not focus in Victorin culture and ways of society which is boring and it has more intriguing characters.

The romance is just awesome. Who could forget heathcliff’s dedication and undying love for Catherine Earnshaw is my most favorite romantic couple.

Heathcliff is an orphan, a vagabound, taken to live with the Earnshaw in Wuthering Heights. He grew up with Catherine, who was the only person in the world that could understand him. Vice versa. Both developed a unique, unbreakable relationship, ranging from best friends, brother and sister, and finally……love. Unfortunately, things did not work out well with them. Catherine married someone else; she had a daughter, named after her. However, Cathy Linton was different from her mother, although her charm made Heathcliff forced her to be his daughter-in law. Heathcliff never forget Catherine. Not ever. I shall not spoil it here, but there is one certain scene when Heathcliff pronounced his love to Catherine, which made me shudder and gave me goosebumps. Every woman in the world probably would kill to have love just like what Heathcliff had for Catherine. That fiery, passionate, insatiable love….
